# Method:
01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
02 - Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
03 - Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
04 - Gradually add dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
05 - Roll dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into mermaid tail shapes using a cookie cutter.
06 - Place shaped cookies on prepared baking sheets and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely on a wire rack.
07 - Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, beating until fluffy.
08 - Divide buttercream into 3 to 4 bowls and tint each with a different gel food coloring.
09 - Pipe colored buttercream onto cooled cookies using piping bags with star or petal tips to form mermaid tails.
10 - Dust decorated cookies with edible shimmer and embellish with candy pearls or sprinkles as desired.
